Safety First Tips on How to Have Safe Summer Fun Time and BBQ – Long Island Personal Injury Attorney

The most fun-filled season on Long Island is here! Summer is the best time to enjoy BBQ’s, outdoor parties and events. BBQ’s in the summer is an interesting tradition on Long Island that keeps us entertained and encourages socializing. Gathering with family and friends is always a great idea, but keeping all of the possible safety measures in view is necessary to avoid any risk and accidents. Records show that the largest ratio of accidents occur in the summer season due to negligence during BBQ parties or outdoor entertainment. The enjoyment of the season, beach and poolside parties, nights out and BBQ fun should not be avoided but there are several safety tips that you must remember while having fun.

Don’t Drink and Drive:

While stepping out from a fun-filled party you must remember that you must drive back home and keeping yourself alert and in senses is very important. Avoid heavy drinking or request someone to drop you home.

Avoid Car Accidents:

Be alert on the road while driving towards a party or back home. Drive safely to avoid any fatal car accidents that can put your life and the life of other drivers in danger. The majority of car accidents on Long Island occur within five miles of your home or work.

Keep Distance Between Grill and Home:

Keep the BBQ party at the safe distance from your home so that the fire hazards don’t harm your residence and risk any lives.  Generally, a ten foot distance is advised to be kept between your home and the grill. Avoid and stay away from wooden objects as the fire can be flared up and can cause an accident. No one wants to end a family BBQ with a call to the local fire department.

Regular BBQ Cleaning:

BBQ cleaning is must as the fat and greases chocking the grill can cause a sudden flare up or burnt steaks. Grills catch fire easily and frequently be sure the have a fire extinguisher handy and ensure that children are always a safe distance from the grill. Weather you are grill on the beach in Montauk or a Freeport waterfront property- always keep your grill clean.

Be Alert About Gas Leaks:

Gas leaks are very dangerous especially if you are planning to have a BBQ  or fire pit on gas grill. Keep a close check if there is any leakage or not and get the problems fixed before starting the grilling. As the leaking hoses, valves and burners are very hazardous so you better get them changed immediately as no taps or home remedies can fix them temporarily. Be aware of the smell of propane gas and be sure to keep everyone safe. If you are cooking indoors for your party be sure your carbon monoxide detectors are working. Fires are very serious, recently a house in Syosset burned down expected to be due to a gas leak.

Keep A Fire Extinguisher:

While planning the venue of the BBQ party, keep a high-quality fire extinguisher near to handle any emergency fire situation.
